Another desert-named collection for summer

Posted on

The desert must be “in” this year.  A few weeks ago I posted about China Glaze’s upcoming Desert Escape Collection and now Color Club has announced its Desert Valley set.

Color Club Desert Valley banner

With the tag line, “Head west!  A new collection inspired by Route 66,” I think a much better name for the set would have been “Route 66,” but it’s not my company.  Considering half of the famous and historic Route 66 is not in the desert, why not?

Anyway, there are seven shades.  Actually, now that I read the names, the set also reminds me of China Glaze’s spring collection, Road Trip.  (Click on the following picture for a larger view.)

I dunno, kind of a hodgepodge to me.  For a desert theme, where’s the gold, the tan, the rust, the shimmer?

Polishes are $8.50 each at Color Club’s web site but a much more reasonable $3.50 each at Head2ToeBeauty.  Also worth noting is that at H2TB, the colors seem much less vibrant, which is not a bad thing.  For example, Grand Canyon looks less tangerine and I like it better.

Overall I’m much more excited about China Glaze’s summer “desert” set and still hope to find the mini-set of six polishes.

Incoco announces their new summer collection of nail polish appliqués — Metropolis:

Incoco Metropolis

Lunch by the pier, evening performances in the park, and the late setting sun over the skyline: welcome to summer in the city! The Metropolis collection fuses the modern, chic style of urban life with vibrant summer colors. Bring the energy of the season’s sunny days and hot nights to your fingertips with nine new lively Incoco nail appliqué colors & designs.

As you can see, there are new solid colors and also cool patterns.  Mix and match!

Incoco Nail Polish Strips are 100% real nail polish, not stickers.  Also they’re 3-free (no DBP, toluene, or formaldehyde), are made in the USA, and contain base coat, nail color, and top coat in one.  I reviewed some last year and was impressed.  Each package contains two sets of eight individual appliqués each, for a total of sixteen appliqués, in a variety of widths.  It’s nail art for the nail art-impaired like me.  And as I’ve mentioned ad nauseum, nail strips are super for traveling — no liquid to leak or to check at airport screenings.

The name “Metropolis” makes me think of the classic German silent movie of the same name.  Released in 1927 and directed by Fritz Lang, it’s a precursor to the entire science fiction genre and a must-see for film buffs and historians.  As of this writing, the restored version is available to watch on Netflix streaming.

Dear Santa from Incoco

Disclosure:  This product was supplied by the manufacturer for review.

Just a very short post today.  Crazy busy lately, in a good way.  I want to show you another Christmas/holiday pattern from IncocoDear Santa is not new this year but is still available.  It’s a pattern of red and green snowflakes over a pearly white base.

Dear Santa

Wouldn’t this be fun for a Christmas party?  It would get your nails noticed, and not in a kooky, weird way.  Incoco nail wraps are very easy to use, as I’ve explained before in a much more thorough review.

Dear Santa is $8.99 for a package of 16 non-reusable nail strips in a variety of sizes.

New holiday patterns from Incoco reviewed

Disclosure:  This product was supplied by the manufacturer for review.

As reported last week, Incoco has new colors and patterns for Winter 2013 in a collection called Merry & Bright.  I was pleasantly surprised to receive several sets for review.

To recap from my earlier review this fall, if Incoco Nail Polish Strips smell like regular nail polish, that’s because they are!  They’re 100% real nail polish, not plastic or vinyl peel-off stickers.  Also they’re 3-free (no DBP, toluene, or formaldehyde) and are made in the USA.  Each strip is base coat, nail color, and top coat in one — no need for an additional top coat.  Each package (SRP $7.99-$8.99) contains two strips of eight individual appliqués each, for a total of sixteen appliqués, in a variety of widths.

Instructions for applying the nail polish strips are given on the packaging, and also on Incoco’s web site under “How To Apply.”  There’s a video there that you can watch as well, very helpful.

  • Clean and buff your nails before application.
  • Select the appropriate width of appliqué and separate it from the strip.
  • Remove the clear cover.
  • Peel off the polish strip.
  • Remove the silver tab and select end.
  • Apply to nail and gently stretch to fit.
  • Remove excess from nail by filing.

I found it quite easy.  There’s no dry time, no smudging, no liquid polish to spill.  Heck, you could do your nails while waiting at the airport for a flight.

First, let me show you the title pattern, Merry & Bright.  It’s a festive shimmery light gold and pink-red art look that I could never draw myself.  Under indirect dull outdoor light and then with the flash:

Love this one.  It truly is “merry and bright” but it’s not too wild.

Next, there’s more to the holidays than Christmas.  How about a glittery, glamorous look called “Galactic Glitz” for New Year’s Eve?  It’s a black background with multiple sizes of glitter in pink, green, purple, and gold.  My photos do NOT do justice to this beautiful pattern.  Under indirect bright outdoor light and then with the flash:

I love this one even more than Merry & Bright.  It almost has a 3-dimensional look.  Even though I’m not going to a party any time soon, I don’t want to take Galactic Glitz off!  And you can’t make me.  Even Mr. Silver Nail, who is generally Mr. Oblivious, loved this one.

Incoco is having a Black Friday sale today, with 15% off site-wide (very newest shades unfortunately not included, but there are older holiday ones just as pretty), plus other deals.  As I’ve said many times before, these nail strips make great gifts.  And if you happen to drop a few in your own stocking, that’s cool too.

Incoco has announced their new Winter/Holidays collection for 2013, called Merry & Bright.

Incoco winter-launch

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Incoco introduces the all-new Winter 2013 Collection, Merry & Bright, for festive and fabulous nails this holiday season. A perfect combination of seasonal shades, sparkling glitters, and classic colors, this stunning collection is something to celebrate. Greet the holidays with Incoco on your nails and in your stocking!
Free shipping on orders over $50 and we promise you’ll love it. Free return shipping on all orders.

Incoco Nail Polish Strips are 100% real nail polish, not stickers.  In addition they are 3-free (no DBP, toluene, or formaldehyde), are made in the USA, and contain base coat, nail color, and top coat in one.  I tested some before and was impressed with the look and wear.  Each package contains two sets of eight individual appliqués each, for a total of sixteen appliqués, in a variety of widths.

Some of these holiday looks really catch my eye because I’m severely nail-art-impaired.  Can’t even draw a straight line.  No way I could recreate the look of “Santa’s Forest” or “Winter Knits” without a product like this.

Don’t forget some of Incoco’s older holiday designs either such as “Deck the Halls” and “Winter Wonderland.”  I’ll have a couple of those looks to show you very soon!

And as I’ve said several times before, nail strips are super for traveling — no liquid to spill or leak or to check at airport screenings.  Great for stocking stuffers too.  Do you really want to put glass bottles of liquid nail polish in the needlepoint stocking that took you a year to make?
