Hi everyone, sorry for not posting yesterday. I almost always try to post on Saturdays, and yesterday I was prematurely thrilled to see that my Limited Edition Zang Toi trio from Zoya was “out for delivery” on the FedEx truck. So I waited.
And waited.
And waited.
It never showed up.
Guess the driver was too swamped with deliveries, but hey, it’s just nail polish and I feel confident the package will be in my hot little hands tomorrow so I’ll be able to swatch and review the new colors.
So let’s talk about something else from a recent Fashion Week. I got this picture in an email from Butter London and fell in love with the color:
Scouse (Brit-speak for someone from Liverpool) is a “sheer, royal blue and indigo duochrome nail lacquer with pink, purple, and blue microglitter” and is only available in the U.S. Its SRP is $15 which is a bit high for me. Then I thought, “Wait a minute, don’t I already have something like this?”
Yep — this is OPI’s DS (Diamond Series) Magic, which I reviewed here. Still expensive at $12.50 though, and it may have gone up since my review. I’ve read that Orly’s Lunar Eclipse is a dupe but don’t own that one for comparison. Might be something to look for, though, if you’re craving this fashionable royal blue flash at a more reasonable price.

First let me say that I’m sorry you didn’t get your order on Saturday. I’m surprised that it said “On truck for delivery”, and you didn’t get it. I’m sure it will make it there on Monday. If not, call FedEx. Anyway, I have been wanting a darker blue and if it has some shimmer to it, all the better. I have Zoya’s FeiFei, Jo, and Zuza too ( and of course, love them all), but wanted a more royal or darker blue than those .When I finally got to Walmart, the new Pure ice polishes were mostly all gone, and I was looking for a few colors like Blue Midnight or one called Celestial, but not sure how they cover. But, they are cheap, and any color I buy from Walmart, and Walgreens too can be returned if I don’t like the color. My Walgreen’s never has the Pure ice polishes in, old or new. I’m giving up on that place. Anyway, I was wondering if you have tried the 2 Pure Ice blue polishes I mentioned, and maybe by some miracle I might be able to find the new ones. Oh, and I’ve also been looking at the Zoya’s Song, and wondered if you had any thoughts on that too. Thanks so much. Suzy
Ah, the delivery is no big deal. It’ll be here tomorrah!
I haven’t tried Pure Ice’s Celestial or Zoya’s Song. Pure Ice’s Blue Midnight, which I do own, was a limited edition color and isn’t available any more as far as I know; it was one of the “Velour” shades last fall and is very matte.
An inexpensive royal blue that I liked very much (one coat!) was Maybelline’s Navy Narcissist, which I reviewed here: http://thesilvernail.wordpress.com/2012/11/24/blues-you-can-use/
Also, last time I was in Wal-Mart I almost bought a Sally Hansen Insta-Dri color called Grape Going!. It looked like a royal blue shimmer with a strong purple duochrome look. I picked it up and put it down twice and ended up not buying it but next time I might. Here’s a good picture of it: http://makebeautynails.blogspot.com/2010/05/sh-insta-dri-going.html Hope that helps!
Well, I’m glad you got your polishes today. The new colors are beautiful. I plan on getting ZIV at a later time, and will be on the lookout for that deep blue color called Catherine The Great that might be out in the fall. But, for now since I was at Walmart, I picked up the Maybelline Color Show Navy Narcissist you suggested, so I’ll be trying that one soon. Thanks, again. Suzy
