Matte textured polishes, aka sand finishes, continue to be news this year. Zoya posted this yesterday on their Facebook page: “NEWSFLASH – Zoya PixieDust MAJOR HAPPENINGS going on in the warehouse right now! SOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED.” (Their caps)
Don’t know what it means, though, whether the Pixie Dust Collection is on the verge of shipping or what. They certainly do sound excited, though! I too am anxious to get my hot little hands on Pixie Dust, especially since I liked the OPI Liquid Sand polishes more than I thought I would.
Back in August I posted about the matte textured set from China Glaze, wildly named “Texture,” rumored to be coming in March of 2013. No official news or updates on the collection but I did see this picture on Pinterest:
Wow, they’re really neon-bright and very matte, don’t see any added sparkle like Pixie Dust or Liquid Sand has. Also, I read one unconfirmed rumor that the set may be released in May instead of March.
I might try one of these but they’re so matte and textured that they kind of look “flocked” to me. Who else remembers flocked wallpaper? Shudder.

Don’t forget to enter the giveaway on my Facebook page for a free bottle of Sticks ‘n Stones black & white glitter. Just one more day to enter!

These don’t seem quite as nice as the OPI and Zoya “sand texture” polishes. However, I love China Glaze so I think I might have to get my hans on the blue one just give them a try.
I’m not sure I’m feeling these only because I think the texture would annoy me and a topcoat would defeat the purpose.
I am with you – the texture does bother me – I don’t like feeling the roughness – but then I cannot even stand sandpaper! I am OK with the Layla Softouch however – it’s about as texture as I can get – it feels sort of like felt.
I do remember flocked wallpaper! I am not a fan of the new texture polishes at all…I sort of like some with a clear shiny topper but not too much. I pretty much stopped buying glitters now too – I have so many and I am tired of them in 1 day and want them off. The shades of some of the textures interest me. I like the lavender pixie dust one .. like to see someone get hands on and put them on with a clear topper. Oh and the news from Zoya on the Pixie Dusts was the announce of their release date.
Actually I am wearing one of Julep’s “suede” finishes and I LOVE IT! It is not as textured as the ones shown, but really is a suede-look finish. It is not really matte, but soft and unshiny (is that a word). I now want three more of the suedes, but at $14 a bottle this may take some time. lol
I feel like the texture would make me feel itchy but I love the look.
Well, I’m just not a fan of the textured look. I thought it might grow on me with time, but it hasn’t. I do love the bright colors on the swatch wheel though. I just think I’d have to use a lot of top coat to make it smooth and that defeats the purpose, then doesn’t it?
I like these :3
