As I was getting ready to swatch Yummy for your enjoyment (and mine, gotta admit), I remembered I had another bright blue creme from Zoya and thought it would be good to compare them.
Yummy is from the Candy Collection which is no longer available as a set, but all six colors — Yummy, Creamy, Tangy, Tart, Juicy, and Sweet — are available individually. An interesting note is that this set had some of the very few Zoya colors not given girls’ names. At least let’s hope there aren’t any girls actually named “Tart.” Zoya calls Yummy a “Bright, cheerful light robin’s egg blue in a milky creme finish. A sweet sky-blue that pops on both deep and pale skin tones.”
Robyn is from the Flash Collection, and Zoya very simply calls it a “perfect turquoise cream.”
Both colors are cool-toned, and while Zoya calls Yummy more opaque, I found them very similar in opacity. They both covered great with two coats, but they dried extremely fast, especially Robyn. It might be our weather today, which is warm and very dry.
Here are the bottles, Yummy on the left and Robyn on the right:
They don’t look all that different, although they do in person, and when I took my photos of the polishes on my nails I was surprised because the differences in the colors did not come through in the pictures at all. So I took more photos and tried varying the lighting. Same results.
Now, I do not and will not manipulate photos to change a polish’s color, and I certainly don’t say polishes aren’t duplicates when they are, in some weird attempt to get you to buy more polish. I’m stumped by my camera’s inability to capture the differences I see in person. It’s not like when I compared Arizona and Jancyn, where I had to keep looking at the labels on the bottles to tell which was which. I can easily tell Yummy and Robyn apart, both in the bottles and on my nails. Yummy is indeed more sky blue and Robyn is much more turquoise.
Without further ado, here they are. In all photos I have Yummy on my index and middle fingers (two left-most) and Robyn on my ring and pinkie fingers (two right-most). In indirect outdoor light with the bottle of Robyn:
With the flash and the bottle of Yummy:
And outside in bright sunlight with the bottle of Robyn:
Honestly, I don’t know what the deal is. In these pictures they look like duplicates but they really aren’t. This is one case where I’m going to say to ignore my pictures, more or less, and go by the pictures of each polish on Zoya’s web site. I think they are much more accurate than what I was able to capture. I really love both colors and think either or both would be great for a summer manicure.
