Pink. I love pink polish. It can be wild and bright, or calm and muted. Today I’m going with a shade for the weekend that is unabashedly a Mom Color. And I’m OK with that!
Meet Kylie from Zoya. It’s a medium cool dusty pink with a faint silver shimmer. It’s also rather sheer, so I’m going for just a wash of color and am not trying to get it to look opaque. My swatches have more of a coral tone than how it looks on Zoya’s site.
By the way, don’t confuse Kylie with Kylie2! Kylie2 polish is darker coral creme, not like Kylie at all. Wonder why they gave two polishes practically the same name?
I think Kylie gives my nails a pretty, old-fashioned shell pink look. This is two coats in indirect outdoor light:
Hmm, it looks more sheer on some nails than others — user error, I suppose. With the flash:
And under indoor artificial light, which really makes it look more peach/coral:
Really nothing earth-shaking to say about this color. I like it for times when I want my nails to be understated and simple.

This is a very pretty color. I find myself loving the mom pinks
I don’t care either! Color really looks good on you!
Thanks! I’m like that candy commercial — “sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don’t.” Sometimes I feel like a bright purple foil, sometimes I feel like a muted pink. It’s great to have choices!
That’s what I love about nail polish. It’s not just red or pink anymore. There are so many colors to choose from and so many variations of each color, with many different finishes. And it’s relatively easy to change to match your mood, an outfit, etc.
How often would you say you change your polish?
I change mine every few days. A lot of days I go without, too. I don’t believe nails need to “breathe” (the actual nail we see is dead tissue) but I swatch so many colors that I like to give my nails a break from the polish remover. How about you?
Well, I have short fingernails. I don’t bite them, they just are weak and tend to split when they get the least bit long. So because they are short I can’t “wraparound” the polish on the tips, which I think helps to prevent chipping. All this is a long way of saying, I don’t paint my fingernails very often as they chip almost immediately, despite all the anti-chip stuff I use. I only do them for a special occasion and usually take off the polish the next day.
But I always do my toes and that lasts several weeks! Unless I get bored amd want to use a new color.
